DIY: fabric flowers

I have always loved finding knew ways to make flowers. And this is a very easy, fun and good looking one. I watched this tutorial at Studio 5 and made a few changes.

Materials:
1 1/4"-3" strips of fabric
fabric glue (cheapest I have found is at Walmart - right around $5)

Directions:
1. Rip strips of fabric the length of the fabric. Pull off excess string. Each strip is at least 1 ¼-inches wide (I like mine closer to 3). Fold in half lengthwise. Press (or just fold, gives different look and takes less time).
2. Tie a knot in the end of your fabric. Clip excess.
3. Begin rolling fabric around the knot. Periodically as you wind, give your fabric a twist. Roll, and twist every half-inch or so around the diameter of your flower. Add a drop of glue under the fabric as you twist (don't need much).
4. When you have a flower as big as you wish, cut the extra fabric leaving a little to tuck under. Glue excess to the bottom, making kind of a base for the entire flower.
5. Take the flowers you made and glue them on to anything.. onesie, headband, fabric (to make flower bib), pin, t-shirt, belt, card, drapes and anything else you can come up with.

I would love to see your creations. email me: elleandkate@gmail.com (for subject please put blog)
